Strong Sales Might Have Piqued Valve’s Interest

Gabe Newell hates the PS3. That is not news to anyone. What may be news is what Doug Lombardi has recently revealed. Many have called 2008 the year of the PS3. So far, that billing has been true. Strong sales and great titles (especially MGS 4) abound. Valve says that the strong sales have caused the developer to take notice.

“We’re always evaluating what’s happening in the marketplace and certainly something that’s happening in the last couple of months is that Sony’s managed to sell some boxes,” said Lombardi.

“So whether or not you like developing for that platform, if they’ve got millions of people connected to that platform and buying their games you have to take it seriously.”

Lombardi went as far as to say there is a “50-50” chance that Left 4 Dead will be making an appearance on the PlayStation 3.  If the sales trends continue, I have little doubt that “50-50” will become 100%. (I hope).
