Blu-Ray Sales on The Rise Thanks to PS3

Last week, the Blu-Ray sales information was released to the public.  For the week of May 24th Blu-Ray sales were up 119% over the same week last year.  Blu-Ray seems to be finding its place very nicely in our economy, with many thanks to the PlayStation 3.

While Blu-Ray sales were up last week, DVD sales were down 13% for the same period of time. Although DVD still has the majority of market share, it is refreshing to see that Blu-Ray is catching up. Or rather, replacing it. With only PS3’s counted, there are 21+ million Blu-Ray players in the world, which is no easy feat. It’s easy to see where Blu-Ray would be if the PS3 did not come equipped with the BD Drive and playback feature.
