PlayStation MLB 09 Event Featuring All-Star Edwin Jackson

In an event sponsored by PlayStation, in partnership with Pros VS. GIJoes, Army Specialist Danielle Pisack had the pleasure of meeting All-Star Pitcher Edwin Jackson over webcam. Their friendly greeting was followed by a casual game of MLB 09: The Show; Pisack’s family was flown in to St. Louis to watch her take on Jackson and then spend some time catching up. It was surely a nice treat for Danielle, because being all the way in Kuwait must definitely give her a longing for relatives and loved ones.

The PlayStation Patrol truck at the 2009 MLB FanFest in St. Louis graciously played host to the online match and family reunion yesterday, July 13th, and there was a scene of great excitement because nearly 2 dozen Missouri National Guardsmen cheered Pisack onwards to victory in her online game of baseball versus Jackson. It’s a bit ironic that a soldier thousands of miles away had the home field advantage, no? That should bring a smile to anyone’s face.

Danielle wasn’t the only one playing though; several of the National Guardsmen had the chance to compete against each other as well as some FanFest attendees in special two-inning games. The prizes were tickets for the Home Run Derby and the All-Star game.

Lastly, it seems not just Pisack, but the top troop (Richy Kohler) won the chance to take on Mr. Jackson for the right to best (virtual) ball player bragging rights.

Thanks go out to Sony and PlayStation for sponsoring this fun and challenging event in partnership with the Pros Vs. GIJoes organization.
