Sega has announced today that their highly anticipated title Bayonetta has been delayed until January 2010. Japan, however, will still receive the game as planned, in October.

“Bayonetta is an extremely important new IP for SEGA and adds a new level of depth to our growing portfolio. As a result of market analysis we have taken a Publishing decision that January 2010 is the optimum release time in the Western Markets to maximize this exciting new title’s potential,”

– Sega West COO and President Mike Hayes

Bayonetta joins the ranks of Bioshock 2, MAG, Mafia II and Red Dead Redemption, all of which were originally planned for a late 2009 release, but now are all falling sometime in 2010.
