Ubisoft Launches UbiFriends Portal

Publishing and developing mega-house Ubisoft has stepped out of the game arena and into the Facebook world.

Ubisoft hopes that the UbiFriends portal will bring you and your friends closer. The portal is already loaded with one game, TickTock, a game where the player has to answer questions about friends’ status updates and try to figure out who said what. Furthermore, players can send “bombs” to friends’ profile pages, where they’ll be asked a series of questions that, if answered correctly, will defuse the bomb.

Ubisoft North America president Laurent Detoc had this to say:

“We’ve been a leader in the art of making games for many years, and we’re happy to bring the Ubisoft experience to Facebook.

Our first application, TickTock, is about leveraging user generated content to interact with your friends, and it’s the first of many applications that we’re building for our UbiFriends portal.”

So what do you guys think? Is this a smart move for Ubisoft, or should they be concentrating on their software lineup for this year?
