Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA), a title sponsor of the 2009 Alli Summer Dew Tour, will provide fans a chance to be part of the action and put today’s top athletes in head-to-head competition at the final stop of the Tour, the PlayStation® Pro, at the Amway Arena in Orlando, FL from October 15-18, 2009.

SCEA will also host the “PlayStation Play the Pros” competition, during which six popular professional action sports athletes will face off against one another and compete against consumers in a variety of games on the PlayStation®3 (PS3™) system. Fans will be able to enter into a drawing for a chance to win an opportunity to meet and face-off against their favorite athletes in intense, virtual competition at the award-winning PlayStation® Experience truck, located in the Vendor Village, at the following times:

  • Friday, October 16th, 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. EST
  • Saturday, October 17th, 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. EST

Participating athletes include: Former BMX Park champ Dan Dhers, Greg Lutzka (Skate Park), Sandro Dias (Skate Vert), Anthony Napolitan (BMX Dirt) & 15 year old skateboarding “phenom”, the reigning Dew Tour Skate Park Champ, Chaz Ortiz.

Attendees can show off their own talents on many of the hottest games for the PS3 system at the PlayStation Experience truck throughout the event, including the newly released UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves™ and Rock Band Beatles™. In addition, PlayStation will host a dedicated PSP® zone showcasing Gran Turismo® for the PSP system, with winners of a daily “fastest lap” competition taking home a PSP 3000 system and a copy of Gran Turismo, the first PSP installment for the decade old franchise.

As part of its on-going commitment to action sports, on Sunday, October 18, SCEA will present the “PlayStation Player of the Year” award to the pro athlete that best represents themselves within and outside the action sports community. On behalf of the winner, PlayStation will donate $5,000 to the Athlete Recovery Fund (www.athleterecoveryfund.com), a non-profit that provides professional action sports athletes with financial support to cover medical bills and expenses after severe injuries. Of course that’s not all…the athlete will also receive a PS3 system (call out what kind 80G, 120G) and library of games to reward his accomplishments. The award will be presented at the Dew Cup Awards ceremony at the Amway Arena, at 7pm on Sunday, October 18, 2009.

In addition, as with the previous tour stops, the top six Pro Moments from each event’s competition will be selected and the videos will be featured on Allisports.com for consumers to vote on their favorite. The athlete with the stop’s winning trick will receive $5,000 along with a PS3 system and a selection of games. All competitions will be filmed and some segments will be available on PlayStation.com.
