PlayStation LifeStyle Gives Thanks to 2009

Feature-Thanksgiving

With Thanksgiving around the corner, now is a great time to look at what PlayStation LifeStyle is thankful for in terms of gaming and the industry. Laugh and cry with us as we look at our best stories so far in 2009.

There has been a lot to be thankful for in the gaming industry this year as we have seen top notch games, great new hardware and a lot of hard work from some of the industries brightest.  I myself have found plenty to be thankful for this year, from Uncharted 2 and all its greatness to all the RPG announcements we have seen.  I am thankful to another year of badassary from the likes of Atlus USA and NISA. Thank you industry for finally putting out an amazing Batman game and thank you PlayStation LifeStyle for giving me a place to show my love for anything Playstation, you guys really are like a second family to me.  Now what are some of the things that the rest of the staff find themselves thankful for?

Anthony Severino (Editor-In-Chief)

I am thankful for our loyal readers far and wide. I am thankful for the considerable growth we’ve seen in the past year and the respect we’ve gained amongst the gaming industry. I am also thankful for my staff and their hard work and dedication. One the gaming end of things, I am also thankful for the PSPgo because now I actually have a PSP that I can take with me, that I don’t need a case for, don’t need to carry UMDs and is smaller too. Now that’s portability. As for the PS3, I am thankful my reliable old 60GB launch unit is still ticking (knocks on wood). I am thankful for the gaming industry in general for giving us so much news to cover on a daily basis. Things are never stale in this industry.

This year I’m thankful for there finally being a good Batman. I’m also thankful for the amount of good first party games that were released this year. Uncharted2, Ratchet and Clank,Killzone 2 and infamous. Finally I’m thankful that the developers finally seem to understand that gamers play games all year and that for most of the year there were some big games being released when usually there isn’t.

I am thankful that Sony lowered the price on the PS3. Now I don’t have to hear people say the PS3 sucks as often.

I am thankful for Atlus for bringing one of the most unforgiving yet fulfilling titles that I have ever played in Demon’s Souls. Naughty Dog staying true to the PlayStation fans out there and bringing great games. For the PSLS readers out there that make this site what it is today, and also for getting to be part of one of the greatest sites out there.

I am thankful for the PS3 itself. August 2009, I lost a valuable member of my material family: my original PlayStation 3. But thankfully a newer, stronger PS3 came to my aid which has allowed me to give thanks to Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Guerrilla Games, and Sucker Punch. Without the PS3 Slim and its lower price, I would be lost for the holidays.

Although 2009 brought death to my Jan. 2007 60gb PS3, I am thankful for many things: Naughty Dog for giving gamers Uncharted 2, my Game of the Year. However, 2009 also saw the unveiling of Project Trico, or officially known as The Last Guardian. Finally, for the PSLS readers out there… Thank you!

I’m thankful for the still running launch 60gb PS3 I use daily. I’m thankful for the readers and supporters that visit this site daily. I’m thankful for being allowed into this tight family of professional and fun loving people that run this site. I’m thankful for all of the great games that have been released this year, and the awesome developer support after their release. It has always seemed in the past, that once a game is released, it was dead to the developers and they moved on to their next moneymaker. Big thanks to Naughty Dog, Guerilla Games, Incognito, Insomniac, Sucker Punch, Infinity Ward, and all other developers who have went above and beyond previous developers when supporting a released game.

I’m thankful for all the awesome Action-Adventure games that came out this year. Batman: Arkham Asylum, Uncharted 2, and Assassin’s Creed 2 have renewed my love of acrobatic platforming and stealth kills. I’m also thankful that I can finally stream Netflix to my PS3.

Without a doubt 2009 has been one of the best years I can remember for games, especially PlayStation. I am thankful for Dragon Age: Origins reinvigorating the RPG, God of War in 720p (with the demo for God of War III) and Resistance Retribution for proving action shooters work fine on the PSP. Of course the PS3 Slim deserves a mention as well. I am most thankful for this great group of guys I work with and the awesome audience we have which seems to grow each day.
