Killzone Series Comparison is Eye-Opening

When the original Killzone game hit the PS2, at the time it was THE premier graphical powerhouse on the console. Seeing as how the Killzone series just turned 5 late last month, Guerrilla Games decided to do a comparison of the graphics in Killzone 1 to Killzone 2. The results are mind blowing and show the true power of the PlayStation 3.

Let’s take a look at the first example above. On the left we have the original, bland looking Helghast trooper from the original Killzone. Nothing special, right? On the right, we have the totally badass, super-detailed Helghast trooper from Killzone 2. Is that amazing or what!?

Check out Rico!! Looks like he is try to channel a certain ‘Master Chief’ in the first KZ game and you can tell that it’s a video game. In Killzone 2, if someone made a passing glance, they’d think you were watching some Sci-Fi movie on television, not that you’re playing one of the best FPS on the PS3.

Here we have Jan Templar, star of the first Killzone game and Killzone: Liberation on the PSP. Mr. Templar has aged a bit due to the stress of war, but he’s looking better than ever thanks to the PS3. Nice to see that the IN-GAME graphics of KZ2 outshine the Cut-scenes of the original Killzone 2.

As you can tell, 5 years can make a WORLD of a difference. Something else that changed after all those years? The Killzone series became a Triple A series. I’ve never seen such a turn in quality from the original game to the sequel in a gaming series. Sure..the first game was cool and all, but it wasn’t the ‘Halo Killer’ that Sony claimed it to be. Killzone 2 though? Well, I’m not going to say anything, but besides Modern Warfare 2, Killzone 2 ruled the FPS scene in 2009.
