Remedy Not Returning to Max Payne Series

Remedy currently has it’s hands full with it’s new IP, Alan Wake. While the title releases this May, many are wondering if Remedy will ever go back to it’s beloved Max Payne series. Well, we have some bad news for you.

Remedy has revealed that they will not be returning to Max Payne after Alan Wake releases. The next Max Payne title, Max Payne 3, is in development at Rockstar Games. Oskari Hakkinen, who is head of franchise at Remedy, had this to say on the Max Payne/Rockstar relationship.

“We sold the IP to Rockstar who are now doing their interpretation of Max Payne. I haven’t seen it. I mean, I’ve seen the screenshots [of Max Payne 3], and you know what? Rockstar don’t make bad games. Rockstar make awesome games, and, rightly so, they’re going to make their own interpretation of Max Payne and it’s not going to be a Remedy game. But it’ll be awesome, because it’s going to be Rockstar. It’ll be interesting to play it and see their interpretation. [Remedy head writer] Sam Lake is the brainchild behind the Remedy version, so Rockstar should make their own interpretation of that.”

Max Payne 3 releases Q4 2010 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
