Killzone 3 May Make the 2010 Calendar

Tapping into the PlayStation 3‘s capabilities and undoubtedly showcasing the system’s potential, Killzone 2 was quite possibly be the best shooter of 09′ and one of the best on Sony’s new-generation console. Guerrilla‘s exclusive brought the current generation breathtaking graphics and a visceral online experience. The question on every fan’s mind is will Killzone receive another sequel? Well, it shouldn’t be too long until we see Sev and company return.

A regular user SikTh on the PSU forums has indicated that we will see at least some new information on the Killzone 2 franchise in the coming week. The user also informed that if Killzone 3 is slated for 2010, then brace your self for an announcement in the next few days.

I did say that I was expecting a lot of Killzone 3 news this month and, well, we are starting to see Sony open up about it. There was a speculation on some website saying that we should expect to see news surfacing “in” a few months from now when the actual article stated “over the next few months”. This means that they will begin revealing more and more info over over the course and they´ll probably begin by official announcing the game.

SikTh last month had said we would see new information about the shooter this month:

I will have a LOT of Killzone 3 news next month. There was talk of trying to release the game by the end of 2010 to compete with Halo: Reach. I personally doubt that this will happen. I am almost certain we will see Killzone 3 Feb/March 2011. I can shed some more light on this next month.

SikTh also had access to other unreleased titles such as Aliens Vs Predator, Dante’s Inferno, Heavy Rain, as shown by screenshots here. So he does have some credibility, even if it isn’t completely official.

The PS3M rumor column stated we should “expect more on Guerilla’s FPS sequel over the next few months”. It wouldn’t be much of a surprise if Killzone 3 makes an appearance at E3 this year if we do indeed hear of some confirmation in the next few days as to the existence to the next installation in the series.
