Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY Edition Sneaking to PAL Territories

Rocksteady sent out a firm message last year that games based on comic-book characters and movies don’t have to be terrible. Batman: Arkham Asylum was one of the standout games of the year when it was released, getting recognized with numerous awards. Deserving, the game is getting a Game of the Year Edition re-release.

Square Enix London Studios has today announced a Game of the Year Edition for the critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham Asylum. It will be sneaking across Europe and other PAL territories from March 26th, 2010.

Along with all six previously released downloadable content challenge maps, the special edition is filled with extra content, including six new challenge maps. Most interestingly, the GOTY edition will feature an “innovative new technology” which offers the ability to play the stealth action-adventure game in 3D. Thankfully, it will work with all standard and high definition TV sets.

The technology used will be ‘TriOviz 3D’. It’s a 3D process which adds more depth to the title, visible to players wearing the 3D glasses included in the special edition.  TriOviz 3D will create “a far more immersive gaming experience, allowing console players to dive deeper into the gothic world of Arkham Asylum.”

It’s refreshing to see the game being deservedly supported so well. It will definitely be intriguing to see how well one of the first 3D supported games will turn out. Roll on March 26th.
