Gran Turismo 5 Release Date Imminent at E3

There is no denying is that Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo 5 has become synonymous with the words delay and coming soon. On multiple occasions fans have heard a release date will be announced soon for the racer which has been in development for a few years now, yet nothing solid has ever been announced. Hopefully we won’t have to wait much longer for the glorified and anticipated PlayStation 3 exclusive.

It’s not a secret that fans and PS3 owners have become impatient waiting on Sony and Polyphony Digital to reveal a solid release date for the racing simulator. The game’s creator, and Polyphony Digital’s CEO Kazunori Yamauchi recently stated that a launch date will be announced soon. However, the true reality is that no one really cares about what even the game’s creator says, we just want a release date.

During the Game Developers Conference, Peter Dille officially ended the speculation that the racer would see a release outside 2010. Other occasions witnessed Sony’s Portugal boss James Armstrong firmly saying the game will be launched “this fall”. Then we had European Brand Manager Penrose Tackie saying an announcement will be made “soon”. Okay, so we know the game will be released in 2010, but when exactly? Well, several online retailers have shown several release dates, all within 2010 of course, with Play.com estimating a September release and online retailer giants Amazon showing a November release.

Sony recently released a new website, entitled, “sceainvites.com“. The website shows what games will be showcased at E3 from the company, including ModNation Racers, Socom 4 and a range of PlayStation Move titles. Obviously there will be much more, but those are some of the few big hitters that’ll be in what’s shaping up to be the biggest E3 yet. Another title on the website is, yes you guessed it, Gran Turismo 5. Now, of course it doesn’t necessarily mean that a release date will be announced at the expo, but it’s almost imminent to occur. With all the build up from retailers to the man behind the game, a release date is just screaming to be announced at E3.

However, I could be totally wrong and the game could be delayed to 2011, leading to a mass murdering slaughter fest in E3, but, hey, I could be totally right as well. E3 can’t come any sooner.
