Even after going multiplatform and jumping from Sony Computer Entertainment to Namco Bandai, Heavenly Sword developer, Ninja Theory, still has much love for the PlayStation 3. Even in regards to their upcoming action/adventure title, Enslaved, the developers found themselves giving praise to a renowned PS3 developer. After checking out the question and answer, the reply should come as no surprise.

In an interview with Tameem Antoniades from Ninja Theory, influences, presentation, and similarities to other titles are discussed. Perhaps one of the most noticeable revelations from the interview is Tameem’s opinion of the best console developer, which was none other than Naughty Dog.

“I think Uncharted 2 set the template for what an action-adventure game should be”… “We were working on the game two years before Uncharted 2 came out, and by that point it was too late to do a cause direction. It wasn’t like we were trying to copy them, our game’s got a totally different story, different characters, focused more on melee combat, and a different setting. In terms of what we’re trying to achieve, I think both the studio and I have the highest admiration for those guys. They’re the best console developers in the world at the moment.”

The best console developers in the world? Quite a bold statement, especially coming from another console developer rather than the press. In any case, though, it is hard to form an assessment against this claim after Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 2: Among Thieves essentially set the bar for all action/adventure titles coming up. Then again, everyone’s entitled to their own opinions. Who do you feel is the best console developer?
