Test Drive Unlimited 2 Gets Pushed Back Into 2011

Atari made a somewhat unexpected announcement in March that they would be releasing a sequel to Test Drive Unlimited this Fall. However, like many recent games that have been pushed back to a 2011 release due to a very competitive market during the holiday period, Test Drive Unlimited 2 follows suit.

Today, the publisher has revealed it will be delaying the release of the anticipated racer to Q1 2011. The reason behind the delay is due to providing developers Eden Games more time to polish the game’s promising multiplayer experience.

David Nadal, Studio Manager of Eden Games said:

“To date, Test Drive Unlimited 2 has generated great media buzz and incredible excitement amongst gamers and fans of the franchise. By moving the title’s release date to early 2011, we will be able to further advance the game and take into account consumer feedback to help ensure we deliver a great online lifestyle racing experience.”

In addition to the delay, Atari and Eden Games will also be shifting the beta scheduling to coincide with the new launch. To make up for the delayed date for the Beta, the publishers will reward those already signed up with an exclusive in-game item. Eden Games will confirm a new date for the beta in the coming weeks.
