7 More Mortal Kombatants Line Up to Fight
When a new Mortal Kombat was announced shortly before E3, fans of the fighting genre (myself included) screamed like little kids waiting by the local arcade machine, ready to slap down our quarters on the screen to signify that we’ll be playing the winner. In this case, though, we’re all winners, as Ed Boon and his newly formed NetherRealm Studios are cooking up more Kombat for us, and this time the series going back to its gritty, gore-filled roots.
After having some hands-on time with the game at E3, we can confidently say that the Mortal Kombat we grew up loving is back. During the show, only a few characters were shown – Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Nightwolf, Kung Lao, Mileena, Sektor, Reptile and Johnny Cage – and only accounted for about 10% of the available character selection screen space. However, 7 more kombatants have joined the fight…
Adding to the list of already revealed classic Mortal Kombat characters, more series staples have been confirmed for the latest installment of the series in the latest issue of PlayStation Magazine. The newly revealed characters are:
- Liu Kang
Even with the addition of these characters, the roster still isn’t half full (or half empty for all you pessimists), and with a slot for DLC characters on the selection screen, we’ll be seeing the introduction of more characters long after the game has been released.
Mortal Kombat is scheduled for 2011. Toasty!
