Sony Teams Up with SUBWAY for PlayStation Move Promotion

Sony is pulling out all the stops for the launch of the upcoming PlayStation 3 motion controller, the PlayStation Move. On top of building hype with the device itself and its launch line-up of games, Sony is also seeking unique opportunities to market and promote the PlayStation Move. One such way was by teaming up with Coca-Cola to feature Move on labels of upcoming Coke products. Now, Sony has revealed that they’ll be teaming up with the world’s largest submarine sandwich franchise, SUBWAY restaurants.

Sony Computer Entertainment America and SUBWAY have announced the Fiery Footlong Frenzy Fueled by PlayStation, where prizes are given away through the promotion to those who order SUBWAY’s spiciest sandwiches to date”, the Fiery Footlong subs. The prizes, retailing in over $1 million in value, will be awarded at a rate of one prize per minute as part of the promotion. The prizes range from Sony Bravia 3DTVs, to Collector’s Editions of some of Sony’s upcoming titles as well as past titles (like the Uncharted 2 Fortune Hunter Edition), to the chance to take home PlayStation Move controllers long before they hit retailers in September.

The marketing program, which launches today, will feature in-store signage, online promotions, and a national TV spot. The campaign will also receive a push in the social media world with “Fire Drills”, which are special tweets that offer additional chances to win for those who follow @SUBWAYFreshBuzz on Twitter.
