Ghost Recon Predator Officially Confirmed For PSP

Judging by the fact that French publisher Ubisoft has a history of releasing handheld versions for its popular franchises on consoles (for example; Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines), it’s no surprise that Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon title was previously rumored to arrive onto the PlayStation Portable. Ghost Recon Predator was initially outed by the Australian game-ratings board and was further confirmed by an Entertainment Software Rating Board listing last month. Today, Ubisoft has officially confirmed Predator and dished out details regarding the title.

In the game, players will lead their elite squad on the hunt for terrorists in the jungles of Sri Lanka. Deep behind enemy lines, players’ missions will be primarily taking out the insurgents before the situation gets out of hand. Ubisoft further details that players will encounter the enemy on his own ground where he’ll know the terrain better, has more allies, knows where to hide and where to attack. Apparently, in a crowded street, you’ll first have to make the distinction between friend and foe, and the only way to fulfill your mission is with the help of your technology and training.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Predator features:

  • An exclusive tactical experience: Decide what tactics are best – use your massive firepower to eliminate powerful enemies or use the jungle to sneak behind enemies and strike using the element of surprise.
  • Electronic warfare: Use high-tech equipment to hunt, such as drones, air support and prototype weapons. Gaining experience for your squad allows customization of your Ghosts, making them more powerful.
  • Multiplayer co-op: Create a rifle team with two other friends (up to three players ad-hoc). Use flanking tactics with your teammate to outsmart the opposition.

Senior Brand Manager for Ubisoft, Nate Mordo had this to say over on the PlayStation Blog:

“For Ghost Recon Predator, our goal was to create a game that would deliver some of the classic Ghost Recon action moments from this fantastic franchise. We really wanted to make the player feel like an elite soldier surrounded by highly-trained teammates and include as many cool features as we could. Some of the features we’re most excited about include character swapping, third-person cover and of course tons of customizable weapons and high tech gadgets, such as the RC drone.”

Predator is currently scheduled for a release in a month already packed with game releases. September 30th is the date Predator will be hunting down PSPs.
