Red Faction: Battlegrounds PS Plus Beta Invites Getting Sent Out; But You May Not Get One

Sony had promised that select PlayStation Plus subscribers would be receiving a Red Faction: Battlegrounds beta invite. The invites are now being sent out but you may not get selected to take part.

The Red Faction: Battlegrounds beta is now starting to hit PlayStation Plus subscribers’ PSN inbox. It weighs in at 714MB. The PSN message sent by [PS Plus] says:

“Congratulations! You have been invited to participate in the Red Faction: Battlegrounds Beta! The Private Beta takes place from 10/05/10 to 10/19/10.”

The message contains a link to download the beta from from the PlayStation Store. However, not everyone will get an invite as Sony stated a few weeks back that not all PlayStation Plus subscribers will be eligible for some of the upcoming betas.
“Betas have limited invites and based on selection criteria not every PlayStation Plus member will get access to every beta; however, we’re working with game developers to make qualified PlayStation Plus members the first to gain access.”

Red Faction: Battlegrounds will feature destructible environments and will also support four-player local and online pick-up-and-play multiplayer when it releases sometime in 2011. The PSN title is described as “a fast-paced multiplayer-focused vehicular combat game in which fast-attack vehicles, heavy tanks and combat walkers wreak havoc above ground and beneath the surface of Mars.” Let us know if you’re on one of the lucky PlayStation Plus subscribers to have received the beta via the comments section below.
