Solid Snake Emerges from Castlevania’s Shadows [2 Updates]

While Konami’s Castlevania: Lords of Shadow has been a large gameplay departure from the previous installments in the series, the game has still retained the dark, medieval atmosphere that fans have come to love. Although the game is dark and dreary as with previous Castlevania titles, that doesn’t mean a modern military war hero can’t play into the mix.

[Update 2] PSLS reader, David sent in the below image, which clarifies this rumor once and for all. Apparently, you don’t get to play as Solid Snake, but Gabriel does get a custom outfit resembling “Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid”. The outfit is available after finishing the game for the first time. It also allows you to toggle the Snake’s bandana off and on.

[Update] It seems that the source of the below original information is incorrect. David Cox, producer of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, has just debunked this rumor via the official Twitter account for the game, stating the following:

“you do not play as Solid Snake but there is an unlockable that is Kojima related :)”

So it looks like, Hideo Kojima has added a surprise to the just released Castlevania, but it’s not Metal Gear Solid’s Solid Snake.

[Original] Metal Gear Solid’s very own Solid Snake has made a special debut in Konami’s latest hit, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. After completion of the game, all you need to do is go under the Extras menu and swap from the main character Gabriel Belmont and Solid Snake. Similarly, Altair from Assassin’s Creed was playable in Konami’s Metal Gear Solid 4, so it isn’t crazy to think that perhaps Hideo Kojima has a knack for cross-game character play.
