Sega Announces Captain America: Super Soldier

Steve Rogers is coming to the PS3, and he’s bringing his vibranium red, white and blue shield with him. SEGA has officially announced – despite the game being known about for more than a year – Captain America: Super Soldier. The title is set to tie in with Marvel’s epic film Captain America: The First Avenger starring Chris Evans next July. Just as the film chronicles Steve’s early battle’s in World War II, so Captain America: Super Soldier will give players a chance to bring down the evil known as Hydra led by the Red Skull.

In third person style title, Super Soldier players will move about in “free-flowing combat” utilizing all of Captain America’s great abilities: speed, strength, agility, and of course his shield. While not a direct walk-through of the game, it does exist “…within the same world as the upcoming movie of the same name” according to SEGA.

Marvel has a good chance at dominating the box office with Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger and the Avengers hitting screens over the next few years. The question is this: Can Super Soldier succeed where other Marvel move tie-ins have failed? Early screenshots and artwork concepts give hope that indeed it can.
