Outrun Arcade Pulled From PSN, Becomes 360 Exclusive

Not so long ago, Manager of the European PlayStation Store, Mike Kebby had tweeted that Sega’s downloadable racer Outrun Arcade was taken down from the PlayStation Network, however, he did not provide a reason. Today, SEGA offered clarification as to why it has been pulled from the PlayStation Store and, as a result of this, the game has become a 360 exclusive.

The reason for Outrun Arcade being pulled from the PlayStation Store is due the expiry of SEGA’s Ferrari deal. The racing title is now available only on Xbox Live Arcade until December, 2011. A Sega spokesperson told CVG:

“Due to the expiry of the contract with Ferrari, Outrun Online Arcade will remain offline on PSN but will still be available on XBLA until Dec 2011.”

Whether this is related to any way to System 3’s upcoming PSN exclusive Ferrari the Race Experience (which obviously has a Ferrari deal in place) is yet to be seen.
