Gran Turismo 5 Sales Skyrocket After Solid Release Date Reveal
Gran Turismo 5 is easily the most anticipated PlayStation 3 title of all time. After years in development and a number of delays — including a notorious last minute delay — it was announced this week that Gran Turismo 5 would finally hit retailers on November 24th. In response to a solid release date being revealed, GT5 has shot to the top of sales charts at the world’s largest online retailer.
Both Gran Turismo 5 and its Collector’s Edition (which is back in stock) have skyrocketed to the top of Amazon’s movers and shakers list, seeing over a 1300% increase in sales over the past 24 hours (see the chart below). On top of the sales boom for the game, Gran Turismo 5 seems to have re-ignited interest in the PlayStation 3 160GB console, as it’s in the #3 spot on the movers and shakers list, right behind Gran Turismo 5 and the Gran Turismo 5 Collector’s Edition.
This isn’t too surprising considering the massive demand for GT5, its release being close proximity to Black Friday, and the fact Amazon is offering a $10 bonus credit offer on every purchase of Gran Turismo 5, making Amazon.com the best place to pre-order.
With such a high demand and a release just days before the biggest shopping day of the year, it might be difficult to find Gran Turismo 5 on store shelves, especially if you are looking for the Collector’s Edition of the game. To ensure you get a copy at release, we highly recommend that you place your pre-order with Amazon.com now.
