Sony, Virgin and EA have teamed up for a rather unique competition – take part in the PS3 exclusive Virgin Gaming Tournament and you could win not only a share of $25,000 but also a trip to the Maxim Party.
The top two finalists in the Madden NFL 11 Tournament will be flown to Dallas to play for the championship at the Maxim Party. But don’t worry if you’re not the best Madden player in North America, play a minimum of 25 games on your PS3 and you’ll be entered into a random draw to win one of two extra trips to attend the party.
With the tournament only just having begun, the title spot is still up for grabs as the tournament ends on January 30, at 11:59 PM ET. As with other gaming tournaments, many of the matches do charge an entry fee, although some are free. Each match gives you an opportunity to earn money, but you have to show your gaming prowess and rise to the top of the leaderboards.
- The Winner of the Final Round (“Grand Prize Winner”) will receive the Grand Prize of $5,000.00 plus an EA SPORTS Pack (USD$300 value)
- 2nd Place: $1,500 plus an EA SPORTS Pack (worth $300)
- 3rd-4th Place: $750
- 5th-8th Place: $250
- 9th-16th Place: $150
- 17th-32nd Place: $50
- 33th-64th Place: $40
- 65th-128th Place: $25
- Each wildcard (random) winner will each receive $500
The tournament is “open to persons who are at least 21 years of age and who are a legal resident of either Canada or the United States, excluding residents of Arizona, Connecticut, Maryland, North Dakota, Vermont and the province of Quebec.”
