Final Fantasy XIII-2 Announced For PS3, 360

At its First Production Department Premier conference in Japan, publisher Square Enix has announced Final Fantasy XIII-2 for the PS3 and 360.

Motomu Toriyama, director of FFXIII, will return, along with┬áproducer Yoshinori Kitase. The game will feature “a battle system which has evolved further since XIII,” and an new story that follows on from FFXIII. The first trailer showed a new character alongside Lightning, as shown in the logo.

Square Enix is promising big things for the game, saying it “exceeds Final Fantasy XIII in every aspect”. They stated:

“Final Fantasy XIII-2 is currently in production with an aim for producing high quality game content which exceeds Final Fantasy XIII in every aspect; namely, a brand-new story which stems from the previous title as well as a battle system which has evolved further since XIII – and more,”


“We will be disclosing further details about the new game in the future.”

FFXIII-2 will hit North America and Europe this year, set to release “next winter.”
