Yoji Shinkawa’s Works Displayed in Tokyo

January 18, 2011 Written by Allen Tyson

The Metal Gear Solid franchise is known the world over among PlayStation owners. Whether it’s the game direction of Hideo Kojima or the voice acting of both David Hayter and Akio Ōtsuka as Solid Snake, the series is striking and recognizable. One other person has had a huge impact on the series that might not readily come to mind: Yoji Shinkawa.

Yoji Shinkawa has created gorgeous artwork and character designs for the Metal Gear Solid and Zone of the Enders series.  From January 15 – 31st, at the Konami Style store in Tokyo, an exhibit entitled “The Art ofYoji Shinkawa” will be on display. Fans of Shinkawa-san’s work will have an opportunity to purchase items such as artwork, art books, and folders.

Those who were there on the 15th had two rare opportunities. The first was to have a chance to get their purchases signed by Shinkawa-san himself. The second was to witness a rare, live, original Metal Gear Solid artwork take place by Shinkawa-san himself.  Even though some of his more rare Metal Gear Solid and Zone of the Enders works were sold out right away, there was still much left for fans to call their own.
