Activision Announces Spider-Man: Edge of Time

Last year’s Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions marked a drastically different take on the tradional Spider-Man game formula. The project was spearheaded by a new studio, the Quebec-based Beenox. Due to the success that Beenox had with the game, Activision announced that the studio would be heading development on all Spider-Man titles in the foreseeable future. Today, the next installment of Spider-Man developed by Beenox, has been revealed.

Today, Activision has announced Spider-Man: Edge of Time, a “high-octane, adrenaline fueled adventure” where Spider-Man must travel through time to save… Spider-Man. Players will take on the role of both the Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2099 to save Peter Parker from certain death.

The story will be penned by Marvel veteran, Peter David. The game will feature a unique “cause and effect” gameplay aspect where users will see their immediate actions shape the timeline of the other Spider-Man.

A release date and/or platforms weren’t yet given, but it’s safe to say it’s scheduled to hit both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 later this year.

The game will be at Wondercon this weekend, and we’ll keep you updated it there’s any additonal information.
