Bad News MMO Fans, FFXIV Will be a While Longer

Final Fantasy XIV released on PC just a few months ago, to what one can only label a frigidly cold reception. Players weren’t happy with what it offered, and it only took a few weeks before not only a major team restructure occurred, but a PlayStation 3 version delay as well. Now it’s April, and the PS3 was supposed to have embraced its adventure-filled offerings last month. Just where is the console iteration of Square Enix’s latest MMO?

Project producer and defibrillator of Final Fantasy XIV, Naoki Yoshida, responded with the following when asked the whereabouts of the PS3 version of FFXIV:

The PS3 version, the PC version, it’s going to be the same game. So, our top priority is making the game that is very Final Fantasy, something that we can be proud of and something that the players will come in and they will love this Eorzea. It’s an Eorzea that we can be proud of and the players will enjoy. Once we can do this, that’s when we’ll release the PlayStation 3 version.

There have been a couple of major content patches since the release of Final Fantasy XIV, and while they have aided in making the game “playable”, they simply aren’t enough. If you are waiting for this title to arrive on the PS3, you’ll be waiting a while longer if Square Enix is prolonging its debut until its pride-worthy.
