PSP Go Production Apparently Halted

Chalk this up as nothing more than a rumor for the time being, but it sounds as though Sony is getting ready to move on from the PSP Go, at least in Japan. This news comes after the handheld has only been in the marketplace for just over a year and a half.

According to a translation of a blog on Andriasang, a worker at a Sony Shop presumably in Japan has stated that Sony has let his sales manager know that production of the afflicted handheld has stopped. Apparently, no more shipments will be received at the shop where this blogger works. Is this really much of a surprise though, given the all the portable console’s troubles, such as a high price point and canceled UMD-to-download voucher program? Sony has yet to announce anything regarding the console’s future, but the Japanese Sony Style store does indicate that the Go is out of stock, with no notification as to when new stock will arrive.
