New Mass Effect 3 Artwork Brings Delay News

Mass Effect 3 was officially unveiled last December, during the Spike VGAs. Since then, it has had a vague release timeframe of “Holiday 2011.” Thanks to some news attached to recently-released screenshots, it looks like developer BioWare will miss that window.

A batch of 12 screens and artwork (which you can view in the gallery below) were released yesterday without too much fanfare. However, about half a day later Mass Effect‘s official Facebook page released two more images in an album titled “Mass Effect 3 announcement.” It stated the following news that mentions a date a bit later than “Holiday 2011:”

Mass Effect 3 will be released in the first three months of 2012 [emphasis ours]. The development team is laser focused on making sure Mass Effect 3 is the biggest, boldest and best game in the series, ensuring that it exceeds everyone’s expectations. – Casey Hudson, Executive Producer Mass Effect series

So it has been confirmed that Mass Effect 3 will not release this year. At least this gives PlayStation 3 owners the chance to fully play through all that Mass Effect 2 has to offer.
