Job Listing Hints at the PlayStation 3 getting Chromed

About a month ago, news broke out over the internet about the Google Chrome web browser coming to the PS3 when code was found in the PS3 WebKit source code. Excitement ran rampant as gamers everywhere salivated at the thought of actually having a functional browser on their PlayStation 3.

Now to add even more fuel to this topic, a job listing published by Sony Network Entertainment Inc. requesting a senior software engineer who has advanced knowledge of a variety of computer science objects, most importantly WebKit has surfaced. For those who that sounds foreign to, WebKit is the engine that the Google Chrome browser runs on. Applicants should also be skilled in “Software development using Playstation3 dev-tool and PS3 SDK” and experience in “Cell Broadband Engine and SPUs [is] a plus”. Hopefully this means that sooner rather than later, we will have a new amazing browser to use while not playing games on our PlayStation 3 (or maybe while playing them). Yes, we know that a PC browser might be the best bet in the long run, but sometimes you just want to do it from the comfort of your living room couch and Google Chrome on the PS3 would go a long way to letting you do that.

What do you think of this possibility? Let us know in the comments.
