Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection Announced for PSN [Update]

May 12, 2011 Written by Anthony Severino

Late last year, rumors circulated regarding a Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection remastered in HD and stereoscopic 3D for the PlayStation 3. A box art to the game and a listing on GameStop surfaced, adding credence to the story. Plenty of time past, and the new Mortal Kombat released without even a peep about the “Arcade Kollection”. But now, it’s finally been confirmed by Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. Games UK official Twitter account just released the following tweet:

Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection takes gamers back to the arcades! Iconic arcade games will be available on XBLA, PSN & PC #mortalkombat

[Update] Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection will cost $9.99, and will feature online multiplayer and leaderboards. Warner Bros. is shooting for a release sometime this summer.

[Original Story] No further details were given, but going by the original box art that was leaked late last year, Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection will likely include the original Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, all remastered in HD and stereoscopic 3D for the PlayStation 3.

We’ll be sure to keep you posted when a more detailed statement or press release is made by Warner Bros.
