Free Brink DLC and Lag Fighting Patch Vaulting Onto PSN

Sure, you probably haven’t even had a chance to try out Brink online yet with the PSN only just returning, but we’ll already have a lag fighting patch at our side to make it a smooth experience.

The class based shooter released earlier this week to a generally positive response, but Xbox 360 players have been reporting lag issues during the online component. Splash Damage has responded to the problems by providing a quick patch, which opens up new modes with fewer players, which should help smooth out performance issues on the network. The update was rolled out today for 360 players, and is expected to be available for PS3 gamers soon.

The update changes the number of players for campaign matchmaking and most freeplay modes to eight players per game. Of course, some will still want to play the bigger eight versus eight matches that were available before, and they’ll still be able to by creating private matches, or joining the new Big Teams mode in freeplay.

Splash Damage appreciates their customers, and as a “thank you for supporting Brink and for your continued feedback,” they’ve decided to give us all free DLC. The DLC is supposed to consist of new maps on which to conquer our enemies, as well as other content which has yet to be detailed. The free goodies are set to arrive sometime in June, and we’ll be sure to let you know when other details are available.
