“The Beast” Warns Evo2K Of His Presence

Daigo Umehara. If you know who he is, you’re probably already thinking of his legendary Street Fighter IV skills as one of the best players on the planet. Maybe you’re thinking of his legendary comeback against Justin Wong at EVO2K 2004. Or perhaps the way for the last 6 years he’s placed first in nearly every tournament he’s been in. At any rate, one thing probably doesn’t come to mind: Marvel vs. Capcom 3. If that’s the case… keep reading.

Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 has been in the fighting game circuit for over ten years (recently just being dropped from EVO2K for the new season). U.S. players flocked to the game, and many U.S. players–like Mike Ross, clockw0rk, Justin Wong and Viscant to name a few– learned the mechanics of the game from it’s inception. Not so with Daigo Umehara, until now.

Daigo’s been practicing at MvC3 for sometime now and has put EVO2K11 registrants on notice — he’s going after the title this year. How good can he be? Well listen to his own words, and then look at his combo execution, particularly his rapid meter builds and answer that for yourself. With the PS3 being the console of choice, expect PSLS to be at EVO2K11 to chronicle the events as they unfold.
