Fight a Griffin in Dragon’s Dogma Trailer

Capcom’s highly anticipated open-world adventure title Dragon’s Dogma has been the subject of a whole heck of a lot of news and media lately. It seems the company is making fast progress and is constantly eager to show off new bits of the game. Most recently, a combat trailer has hit the internet.

The main feature of this one is the arrival of a griffin and the fight that ensues. Just a few seconds in, you’ll hear a character warn the others, “Lookout! Griffin!” (If I only had a nickel for every time I heard that warning in my life….) The characters are speaking in plain English, so despite the source of the trailer being Capcom’s Japanese division, the conversation bits are perfectly understandable to the Western audience.

Perhaps disappointingly, it doesn’t show a whole, uninterrupted battle from beginning to end, but clips of the fight (or perhaps multiple griffin encounters). From the looks of it, the combat seems pretty fast-paced and intense. Whether it actually is that way or if it’s just a good job chopping together the video has yet to be seen, of course. Maybe the game will be playable at this year’s Tokyo Game Show?

Dragon’s Dogma for PS3 and Xbox 360 is expected to be released in 2012.
