Diablo III on the PlayStation 3 Becomes Even More of a Reality

You might remember a couple of months ago when the CEO at Blizzard offered the possibility of Diablo III coming to the PlayStation 3 platform. It was a crazy concept at the time, although a very relished one, and very few thought that it was a true possibility. However, given the PlayStation 3’s powerful hardware and Activision’s thirst for money, this once crazy idea just might come to fruition.

An official job posting on Blizzard’s website reveals that the company is seeking a “PlayStation 3 Specialist” for the development of Diablo III. The posting is for a senior software engineer position at the company, and the summary clearly states the following:

This position is responsible for overseeing Playstation 3 (PS3) architecture design as well as other PS3-specific game code development to maximize platform performance.

As Blizzard stated, if there were ever a franchise of theirs that would make its way to the PS3, Diablo would be it. This is one of the most heavily talked-about and consequently anticipated titles for the PC platform, and Diablo II was one of the most popular online games of its era. Blizzard has been known for delivering extremely popular AAA titles (Starcraft II, World of Warcraft, etc.), so if this rings true, it could be the start of something very powerful for the console platform. Start hoping.
