With the popularity of internet streaming TV shows on the rise, Sony has been keen to market the PS3 as a powerful multimedia hub that can not only play programs from Netflix and Vudu, but also exclusive shows from the PlayStation Network. While full streaming is not entirely a reality, the network is a perfect platform to provide shows to the millions of PS3 and PSP owners across the world. Sony’s biggest program, The Tester has already had two successful series, and now the reality show is back for a third time.
Creatively called The Tester Season 3, the show is once again looking for contestants, and has announced that they want people to submit entries online – just like last year. The producers will choose 11 entries based on who they think will be the best games tester most entertaining, and one entry will be given to whoever has the most votes – last year 8bitmickey received 350,000 community votes. The deadline to enter is September 16, 2011, but if you want to win on votes, the sooner you enter, the better.
This time around, contestants will by competing for a “production job” on an unannounced title for the PS3, working with Santa Monica Studio. The show will debut in early 2012.
