Final Fantasy Type-0 Challenges Xillia on Japan’s Most Wanted Games List

The power of the Tales series is not to be underestimated, as Tales of Xillia has been holding off the likes of Dragon Quest, Mario, Zelda, and Final Fantasy in Famitsu’s most wanted surveys ever since its announcement in December. I guess there’s something to be said for not having a seven-year development cycle, eh? Just the same, this week another game did come close to sitting in Xillia‘s throne, with PSP action RPG Final Fantasy Type-0 coming within 90 votes of the Namco Bandai giant.

Here’s the top 20 most wanted:

1. Tales of Xillia (PS3)

2. Final Fantasy Type-0 (PSP)

3. Dragon Quest X (Wii)

4. Final Fantasy XIII-2 (PS3)

5. Fotokano: Picture Girlfriend (PSP)

6. Mario Kart 3D (3DS)

7. Dragon’s Dogma (PS3)

8. Final Fantasy Versus XIII (PS3)

9. Dark Souls (PS3)

10. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii)

11. Dragon Quest 25th Anniversary Collection: Dragon Quest I, II, and III (Wii)

12. New Love Plus (3DS)

13. Metal Gear Solid Rising (PS3)

14. 2nd Super Robot Wars OG (PS3)

15. Monster Hunter Diary Poka-Poka Isle Village G (PSP)

16. Animal Crossing (3DS)

17. The Last Guardian (PS3)

18. Armored Core V (PS3)

19. Sengoku BASARA 3 (PS3)

20. The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Blue (PSP)

I’m surprised to see the Monster Hunter Portable 3 HD version drop out of the top 20. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City does the same, bumped out by lower games that have moved up. Things keep looking bad for the 3DS, without a whole lot of games on the list to begin with, and the ones that are on there mostly being the same first-party titles that come out for every Nintendo system. The PS3, meanwhile, claims half of this list, and five of its 10 games up there are system exclusives.
