Sony Begins New 99¢ Movie Rental Program on PSN

Along with Sony’s PlayStation Store for games, the PS3 features a robust video offering in the video section of the PlayStation Store. Both movies for purchase and rental are offered, in both HD and SD. Sony has announced today that they’re expanding the value of that offering with a new 99¢ “Movie Rental Program”.

Sony will begin offering select movies and TV shows for rent a the low price of 99¢ (SD) and $1.99 (HD) through the PlayStation Store video section.

Each week the selection will be different. The first week of the program starts with today’s PlayStation Store publish and runs through August 22nd. This first week offering includes the following movies and TV shows:

August 16 – August 22:

  • Sicko
  • The Longshots
  • Salvage
  • Tony
  • Shank
  • Bonded By Blood
  • JFK: Reckless Youth (Part 1)
  • JFK: Reckless Youth (Part 2)
  • Deadly Blessing (Directed by Wes Craven)
  • Carver
  • Devil in the Flesh 2 (aka Teacher’s Pet 2)
  • Illuminating Angels & Demons


Sony says the 99¢ Movie Rental Program was among the most requested community features.
