PS3 Firmware v3.72 Coming Soon, Doesn’t do Much

Firmware updates can be great, bringing new features, new abilities and a faster operating system. Firmware 3.72, however, won’t do anything of any note, simply improving system stability.

Eric Lempel, VP of Sony Network Entertainment, said on the PS Blog:

A new PS3 system software update, v3.72, will be released soon. With this minor update, system stability during use of PS3 format software and network services has been improved.

“Soon” generally means in 1-2 days, so if you are hoping to play Resistance 3 online later this week, be sure to plan ahead and set some time aside to download the new update. As usual, no details were given on which games and networks will be improved, and the update may simply be there to keep one step ahead of hackers and modders.
