Square Set to Bring Lara Croft to Xperia Play

September 28, 2011 Written by Alex Osborn

Square Enix has officially entered into a partnership with Sony Ericsson, with the popular Japanese publisher planning to bring a number of their titles to the Xperia Play platform. The first of their titles to get this treatment is Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light.

The game will launch exclusively on the platform via the Android Marketplace this November. For those that are unfamiliar with the game, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is a third person action game that emphasizes co-operative gameplay.

The head of Square Enix mobile in Europe, Ben Cusack expressed his enthusiasm for the new partnership.

This is just the start of what we plan to do together, but right now, we are delighted to be able to show off the full potential of our games with this innovative smartphone, bringing them to life as our creators intended.

Is this really the best move for Square considering the fact that Xperia Play hasn’t really taken off like Sony had hoped? Let us know what you think about the new partnership in the comments below.
