Sony in Negotiations with Ubisoft to Sign Deal for Assassin’s Creed Film

The Assassin’s Creed franchise has become one of the most popular new IPs of this generation, so it comes as no surprise to hear that Sony is looking to get in on the inevitable film based within this universe.

According to Hollywood paper Variety, Sony Pictures is “closing in on a deal to develop a film franchise” set in the world of Assassin’s Creed. A bidding battle has been going on over the past several months between Sony and Universal, and it looks like Sony will soon seal the deal with Ubisoft’s Motion Pictures division.

Naturally Sony Pictures has refused to comment on the news, while Ubisoft has stated that they currently have “no specific news to share at this time.” Though according to Variety, Ubisoft plans to retain complete creative control of the film.

In the meantime, look for the latest installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise when Revelations arrives in stores next month.
