Diablo III Still Console Bound After All

Diablo III was announced in 2008, and so far it has only has PC and Mac as confirmed destinations. Developer Blizzard excited many fans of the game when it was hiring some engineers for a console version of the game. At BlizzCon 2011, game director Jay Wilson reiterated that the company still has plans to release the game on consoles, but refused to confirm which one(s).

Wilson mentioned that the main reason behind the idea in making the game for consoles is the controls. Even though he stated that the movement in the game feels better on a controller, he felt that the game needed to be developed from the ground up instead of a simple port from the PC version. Porting the game would not make it feel “right” on consoles.

Diablo III is scheduled to release in early 2012, and will do so as a free bonus to those who purchase an Annual Pass in MMORPG World of Warcraft. If Blizzard announces a PS3 version of the game, do you prefer play using mouse and keyboard or a controller? To me, it’s the PS3, so I’d love to use my DualShock 3.
