Arkham City Glides Past 4.6 Million in One Week

According to publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Batman: Arkham City has shipped 4.6 million copies worldwide since its launch on October 18th for the PS3 and Xbox 360. This number is around double the amount that Batman: Arkham Asylum sold in the same time frame, a great feat for a sequel.

The game’s high sales aren’t the only thing getting good grades, as the game currently sports a 96 metacritic ranking, helped a lot–I’m sure–by our review.

WBIE president Martin Tremblay said the success “further establishes the Batman brand as a marquee franchise for our growing business”.

Rocksteady studios game director Sefton Hill added:

The true test for any game is what the players think and we have been thrilled by their reaction to Batman: Arkham City. The team at Rocksteady put every ounce of effort into making the best Batman experience we possibly could, so we are overwhelmed by the incredible feedback from the community.

4.6 million and this does not even include the PC version, which will launch on November 18th. It’s great to see such a complete game getting the sales it deserves, and hopefully these numbers continue to climb, just like the caped crusader.
