Bethesda’s Skyrim Sells a Whopping 3.5 Million in First Two Days

Elder Scrolls developer Bethesda announced earlier today that their fifth installment in the franchise, Skyrim, has done quite well for them over the past couple of days since its launch.

A total of 7 million units were shipped for launch and, according to Bethesda, “more than 50% of launch units were sold in the first 48 hours.” This means that over 3.5 million copies were sold in the first two days, an incredible achievement for any developer.

Todd Howard of Bethesda shared his excitement, saying:

Without a doubt, this has been our most ambitious project ever. After over three years of development, we’re finally excited to get it into everyone’s hands.

In addition, CEO of ZeniMax Robert Altman went on to praise Howard and his entire team for their incredible work on Skyrim.

We are grateful for the fans’ response to Skyrim.

Todd Howard and his team at Bethesda Game Studios have crafted a very special game. Anticipation for Skyrim has surpassed any game in our company’s history, and we are pleased that sales and reviews have reflected the quality and hours of amazing gameplay it provides.
