2K Australia Moved from XCOM to BioShock Infinite, 2K Marin Still Developing XCOM

X-COM, the new FPS take on the popular PC video game strategy series of the same name, has one less development studio working on the title.

2K Games had announced that 2K Australia has shifted development from XCOM to Irrational Games’ highly anticipated FPS, BioShock Infinite. 2K Marin — the main studio developing XCOM as well as the team behind the follow-up to Irrational Games’ BioShock, BioShock 2 — is still hard at work on the title, reports Kotaku. 2K Marin is “focused on delivering a triple-A entertainment experience,” according to comments made by 2K Games.

When asked about possible alterations to the development team of the upcoming title, a 2K spokesperson said that Marin is the only studio working on the game, adding: “But as a rule, we can’t comment about the size of our development teams.”

XCOM, originally an Xbox 360 exclusive, is currently scheduled for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on March 6, 2012.
