The upcoming spin-off Resident Evil title Operation Raccoon City takes place between the events of Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 2, but that apparently isn’t limiting the creativity of the development team, as the story goes outside and beyond Resident Evil history.
In an interview with CVG, Resident Evil producer Masachika Kawata teased gamers with the possibilities of where they plan to go within the story of Operation Raccoon City.
This title was set in the timeline between RE3 and RE2. However, this is a totally different story, which has not so much to do with the RE history. This is a world of ifs. And because of this setting and the point of view, we were able to broaden our possibilities and realize all the new ideas.
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is being developed by Slant Six Games and is set to release on March 20th. With Resident Evil: Revelations now out on the 3DS and Resident Evil 6 expected to launch later this year, there’s certainly plenty of Resident Evil to keep horror fans satisfied in 2012.
