The Top 10 Games We’d Like To See On PlayStation Vita

6. A Mass Effect Spin-Off Trilogy (With Multiplayer)

EA and BioWare’s epic sci-fi RPG franchise has tons of possibilities to explore and not all of them necessarily have to be stories about how somebody saved the galaxy. What they do need, though, is to be a series about a relevant character and how his/her decisions affected an entire story’s outcome. A single spin-off title isn’t enough, either — Mass Effect is all about seeing how the player’s decisions play out over multiple games. ME would benefit from smaller scale use of the Vita’s input features, such as using the front touch screen for the power and/or conversation wheels, guiding the aiming reticule, or guiding grenades (as seen in Uncharted: Golden Abyss). A big draw for the game would be the return of the co-op online multiplayer recently introduced in Mass Effect 3, which mostly saw a warm reception from gamers in the demo. Bringing the Mass Effect experience to handhelds with these features would result in plenty of happy Vita gamers.

7. Bully Stories

Gamers who owned PSPs remember the releases of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and GTA: Vice City Stories. Although some of Rockstar’s faithful might be hoping for a San Andreas Stories on Vita, fans of the open-world gem Bully have yet to a see a follow-up of any kind. If gamers may not see a sequel, they’d certainly take another adventure with Jimmy Hopkins in the world of Bullworth Academy on PS Vita. Bully‘s classes present themselves with some interesting input possibilities (touch screen for art class or rear touch panel for tug of war in gym class, for instance), but Jimmy could also benefit from use of the touch screen to aim his slingshot, climbing, hiding, melee combat and more. Throw in a Bully version of Red Dead Redemption‘s Free Roam for co-op mischief — in addition some online-enabled co-op missions — and Bully Stories could be everything that the fanbase has been waiting for.

8. Monster Hunter

If Capcom’s ultra-popular monster slaying franchise in the East makes its return to Sony handheld platforms in the form of a Vita installment, Sony’s next-gen handheld has plenty to offer it. Camera controls would improve via the right analog stick. Vita has online connectivity with PSN for co-op multiplayer and a built-in microphone for better party management. Plus, Trophy support for the MH franchise would make it even more addictive to some gamers than ever. Add in a Unit 13-like ability to see what players’ friends are accomplishing, some online leaderboards, and Wi-Fi or 3G item/equipment-swapping and Monster Hunter on Vita would be a standout installment of the series.

9. FEZ

Polytron’s innovative, dimension-bending platformer may be currently on its way to Xbox Live, but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t make a great addition to PSN for PlayStation Vita. Players could use the rear touch panel to rotate the world and use the front touch screen to guide Gomez’s path while climbing. Old-school platforming fans would love to see a Vita version of FEZ somehow managing to make its way to Sony’s brand new handheld.

10.  EA Sports Fight Night

EA’s long-running boxing video game franchise has the possibility of a full-fledged handheld version on Vita. The handheld’s two analog sticks would allow for the series’ patented control method, while the front touch screen could be used to help newcomers to the series as an alternate control method by swiping the screen to throw punches. The front touch screen could also be used to treat cuts and injuries between rounds as well. If EA included online multiplayer in this package, Fight Night on Vita would be quite the must-have.
