Blizzard COO Talks Diablo III on Consoles, to be “a true Blizzard-Level Experience on a Console”

While Blizzard has yet to provide us with any firm details on the highly requested console port of Diablo III besides the fact that the studio is currently working to make it a reality, COO Paul Sams recently spoke out to assure non-PC gamers that if/when the game does go multi-platform, it will retain the Blizzard seal of quality.

Speaking in a recent interview with CVG, Sams made it clear that the console version of their upcoming action role-playing game will only be released to consumers should the final product be on par with its PC counterpart and the rest of the Blizzard library.

We think that the way we built it for the PC may need some tweaking, but it will ultimately be the type of game that can really make sense and be really fun, well polished and a true Blizzard-level experience on a console.

We get a lot of questions about why we haven’t made a game for consoles before and I tell them the same thing I tell them about business models: we don’t let business models or platforms drive our decisions. Those are secondary to what’s the most important aspect for us which is the gameplay.

Sams went on to add:

We have to make sure the game is great and it’s something that everyone wants to play. If we provide a great game, a great experience, the business model – if we’re being fair with you – will work.

As of right now, Diablo III is only confirmed for a PC release this May.
