Despite Lost Planet 2‘s less-than-lukewarm critical reception, in addition to the shooter under-performing substantially in regards to sales, Capcom has announced Lost Planet 3.

A Lost Planet 3 trailer from Capcom’s ongoing event, Captivate, has been leaked from – out of all people – Sony via their official YouTube channel. However, as expected, it was quickly pulled. In it, it’s been confirmed that the franchise is making a return with developer Spark Unlimited working on the shooter. Its launch period is currently 2013 and is in development for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The trailer commences with what we’re assuming to be the protagonist named Jim who is running from a creature chasing after him. View the trailer below in its entirety:

Capcom developed the past iterations in the IP which headed by Keiji Inafune who created the series. However, the publisher has chosen the relatively unknown developer Spark Unlimited to create Lost Planet 3. The studio developed Legendary: The Box and Turning Point: Fall of Liberty.
