Rumor: Prey 2 Delay Due to Discord Between Human Head and Zenimax

Bethesda announced yesterday that the rumored cancellation of Prey 2 is in fact not true, though the game has been delayed outside of its original 2012 launch window. However, it looks like there is more to the story, as word has it there was friction between developer Human Head and parent company Zenimax.

According to a report from Shacknews, the developer ceased all work on the game back in November in protest. Apparently, Human Head Studios was unhappy with the terms in its contract with Zenimax and went on strike in an effort to re-negotiate.

Negotiations stopped in January when Zenimax went silent, but then picked back up again in early March, which leaves us to wonder exactly where Human Head stands on the project now. If these rumors are in fact true, then the recent statement by Bethesda saying that the game “does not currently meet our quality standards” doesn’t paint a very accurate picture of the entire situation.
